#2. CHHAANG

Hey guys! I am pretty confident, you must be  waiting for my another blog moreover for a finger licking recipe. So I am back with my another blog but this time it's not a dish or a cuisine but rather it is a beverage. Every dish is incomplete without a beverage or a drink.

So for you this time it is Chhaang which is a traditional drink of sikkim. It is a Nepalese and Tibetan alcoholic beverage also popular in parts of the eastern Himalayas.

I love drinks and even most of the people including my blog lovers might also love this chilling beverage.

Chhaang is one of the most popular beverage of Sikkim. Since sikkim is situated at a high altitude the alcohol present in it which is a key element keep the body warm at higher altitudes.

So before starting as always the ingredients needed are:-๐Ÿ‘‡

  • Barley
  • Millet (finger)/ rice grains
  • Water
  • 1tbsp yeast
Recipe-
  1. Grind enough yeast to a fine powder.
  2. Cook your rice as you normally would. (5 cups of rice and water filled to the 5 cup line).
  3. Once the rice is cooked, stir around the rice in the cooker or pot you cooked it in.
  4. Spread the rice onto your very clean working surface to cool it.
  5. You want to cool the rice down so that there is just a little bit of warmth left.
  6. Sprinkle the yeast over the rice then mix it well with your hands.
  7. Pour the rice mixture in your prepared container.
  8. Cover it with a lid.
  9. Leave it 4 to 5 days in a warm place. Don't open it in the meantime.
  10. You'll  seen in the image that when the Chhaang is ready, the rice doesn't look dramatically different than when it went in.
  11. Then you can keep your Chhaang in your fridge for quite a while, possibly months, or even longer for good taste.
How to have it:
One way is to strain out the rice pieces and drink the thin, milky liquid.
Another way is to keep the rice and to mix the contents of your container.

Now your beverage is ready you can also have it with kinema curry๐Ÿ˜‹ which I posted in my previous blog . If any queries regarding the beverage you can freely ask me in comment box.
Do give it a try and enjoy with your friends and in family parties .
Stay tuned.
